Gone Fish’in!
March 18, 2025: I had the great experience of joining a group of men who had arranged a fishing trip on The Gulf of America. I have had no fishing experience during my life. I joined this group because a couple of them are good friends and I was curious of the experience. As we headed out the waters seemed rough. I asked the captain his opinion of the height of the waves. He thought 2-3 feet. That didn’t sound like rough seas to me. So the first thing I learned was why I hear boating warnings when waves are forecast to be 2-4 feet. I wondered if I would get sick. I didn’t. But four or five guys did get sick and were leaning over the edge of the boat feeding fish. So, I got to see that.
We were catching grunt fish. Catfish was the second most caught. I learned they could sting. The first mate was always quick to help release the catfish with a tool that extended enough to avoid a sting. They also caught a couple red snappers.
I learned about the boat. I am an engine guy so I asked about engines and props and gears. Also, navigation. We were 13 miles out from Hernando Beach, FL. in about 8 feet of water. It was a great experience with some great guys in a great location. Here is a video.
Hayden’s Graduation
May 21-25, 2025: We traveled to Bloomington, Minnesota for Hayden’s graduation. He graduated from United Christian Academy. Hayden would love to have a career playing professional soccer. His earliest soccer training was in Africa, where he was born. His agent has arranged for Hayden to travel to Portugal in August for trials with some professional teams. This is the time to chase those dreams.
The Color Guard Team
We enjoyed other activities during our stay in Bloomington. One event was attending a St. Paul Saints baseball game. Baseball is good, but our main interest for this game was watching the Civil Air Patrol color guard team participate in the opening of the game with the national anthem. Our grandson, Nehemiah is part of the color guard. Their team won a competition earlier this year so we were excited to see them present the colors. As it turned out the weather was cold and rainy. The game was postponed to another day, but the color guard did get a chance to practice. Here is a short video.
Luke’s Graduation
May 25, 2025: Luke graduated from Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio. He had an amazing career in basketball at Perry. He also played a wide receiver position in football. In addition to those activities he got good grades and good citizenship honors. This fall he will attend Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio to play basketball and study physical therapy. Being at Walsh will keep him close to family and to Leighah. He is looking forward to having family and friends close enough to attend games. It is also convenient for him to have his laundry done at home. That sounds like a Win, Win! Here is a link to basketball highlights Luke Wolf
Brady Family 2025
July 3-5, 2025: The Brady Family Gathering was held in Denver, Colorado. We enjoyed time together while playing backyard games, driving through the mountains, and tubing on the river. Tarl, Yesenia, and Tamera planned some great activities and provided great food. It made me tired just watching them work. We honored our 2025 graduates as they shared their plans through the next chapter of life. The gathering wrapped up with time around the campfire. Some family members were not able to attend. They were not forgotten. They are loved, were missed and we talked about them…in a good way. This video provides a quick review of the family time.
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! During the time of tubing on the river Tim, along with a gang of family, were interviewed by Denver 7 abc TV. The interview ran on the 10 o’clock newscast that evening. Fun stuff!
Our South Dakota Adventure
We traveled to Denver with Nate’s family in a 15 passenger van. Our trip began in Ohio. We drove to Bloomington, MN. to collect their family and traveled directly to Denver for the family gathering. The return to Minnesota was by way of South Dakota. We stopped at popular sites, but also spent some time traveling gravel roads. We managed to see some of the wildlife, (animals) up close. With a very close view of a buffalo. The other animals were zoomed camera shots. Over all we had about 30 hours of “quality” time together in the van and much fun at our stops. It really was a great experience. Have a look!
Kompound Kids Day 2025
July 12, 2025: This event is always a highlight. We enjoy being with family and to be with family where we grew up is especially nice. Several friends and our new neighbors attended as well. A BIG THANK YOU to those who made this happen. The planners, the cooks, the setup and teardown people, were all so important in bringing a day of fun and fellowship. Our thoughts always turn to Mom and Dad during this special day. We are surrounded by so many memories when we are in this place…and most of them are good! 🙂 Here is a quick look at the event with a reminder of how it all began. Blessings!
